Maddie Kelton is one of the most promising young athletes in Australian wheelchair basketball — a composed, intelligent, and fiercely competitive player whose rise through state and national pathways has been marked by exceptional talent and determination. A categorised Developing Athlete with Basketball Australia, Maddie represents the Gold Coast Rollers in the Women’s National Wheelchair Basketball League (WNWBL) and has already excelled at multiple Junior National Championships for Queensland.
Her ability to read the game, execute under pressure, and elevate her teammates makes Maddie a standout in one of Australia’s fastest-growing Paralympic sports.
From State Star to National Prospect
Maddie’s progression has accelerated through her involvement with the Queensland Academy of Sport and Basketball Queensland’s High Performance Program. Her talent and strong competitive instincts have earned her invitations to join both the U25 Australian Devils and the Australian Gliders open-age national squad, showcasing her readiness for international competition.
In 2025, she received a QAS Athlete Agreement through to 2029, securing long-term support as she prepares for both the 2028 Los Angeles and 2032 Brisbane Paralympic cycles. This recognition highlights her technical excellence, resilience, and potential to become a key national team contributor.
