The New Face of Australian Freestyle

Xavier Gilbee is one of Australia’s fastest-rising BMX Freestyle athletes — a fearless, explosive, and innovative rider whose rapid ascent has captured the attention of the national high-performance system. Entering the sport during the COVID years, Xavier has risen through the ranks at a remarkable pace, moving from local skateparks to elite international competition in just a few seasons.

Now competing in the elite division, Xavier trains alongside Olympic gold medallist Logan Martin, immersing himself in one of the world’s strongest freestyle environments. His blend of athletic power, technical creativity, and calm competitive mindset sets him apart as one of Australia’s brightest prospects.

A Rapid Rise to the Top

Xavier’s trajectory has been nothing short of extraordinary. Despite being relatively new to the sport, he has already represented Australia internationally and reached finals at major events — a milestone most riders take a decade to achieve. His coaches describe him as disciplined, humble, and relentlessly focused, with the rare ability to convert coaching feedback into immediate progression.

Driven by Big Dreams

Xavier’s goals reflect the ambition of an athlete determined to push boundaries. He is working toward qualifying for the UCI BMX Freestyle World Championships team and ultimately representing Australia at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. These dreams require global competitive experience, travel, and world-class coaching — challenges he approaches with unwavering determination.

Pushing the Limits

For Xavier, BMX is more than a sport — it’s a form of expression. Every run tells a story of commitment, creativity, and courage. With the support of Grow for Gold, he continues to refine his skills, expand his competitive opportunities, and inspire the next generation emerging from the Gold Coast’s thriving freestyle scene.
